How far does a 55-250mm zoom lens?

The only goal I have today is the 18-55 mm that came with my camera. Now I need a good zoom lens. I was just trying to get an idea of how much the 55-250 mm lens that could zoom for anyone with more experience in trying to explain here?

I'm assuming you're using a crop body camera (DSLR entry level x [, xsi, D60, D3000], etc) So for them is actually 88-400mm. It is very difficult to explain without having to do it yourself, but I'm pretty certain will be sufficient. telephoto 400 mm is quite good, and we will close.
