Does the brand name for the Camera Battery to make a difference?
I have the Olympus 1030SW and wanted to buy an extra battery. The Olympus brand is 30 dollars but I can buy a name of anyone with the case of silicon (15.00), plus tripod and miscellaneous things) for about 30 dollars. Is there a difference? will ruin and damage to my camera? Thank you!
The interesting thing about the batteries … The camera manufacturers do not make them. They make the cameras. Someone ELSE makes the battery and the Olympus (or anyone) purchase of that company and puts his own name on them. When cross-references a battery, make sure that it is a real place, not something that is "close enough." When all specifications are the same, a manufacturer is very similar to another. The small differences but must adhere to a standard. Think gasoline. Federal regulations require adherence to a set Uniform standards for any brand will work with any brand. If you get 25 mpg of a mark, you might get 26 miles per gallon of another brand. But really there is not much difference. And a direct replacement battery can damage or ruin your camera.
