How do I remove a color cast of my digital photos?

On my computer I have a number of photographs taken under artificial light. Because of artificial lighting, all photos have a "color imbalance. It seems as if they are submerged in a yellow-green liquid! This is because the lights in the room you are taken are some kind of light bulbs or fluorescent tubes. Is there any easy way to get rid of this yellow-green cast? I do not want to buy an expensive program to correct the color, because it is a single batch of photos that have this problem. A free or cheap would be ideal. I think bits of photos can be improve with the Paint program that I have on my Windows XP, but more versatile free or program budget is what I'm looking for. Even a top level program like Photoshop will struggle to make your photos look www.serif.com 100% natural, has a photo editor more cheapish calls the photo that could restore images to a good level. Most digital cameras have software that would improve your pictures and of course there are agencies and photographers who do this kind of restoration at all times. Not always so expensive.
